Lose weight by engaging your mind
I work with a lot of people who come to me saying; “I want to lose weight.” Or “I’ve tried everything, I just wish something would work.”
If you want to lose weight but haven’t been able to then maybe you need to pay attention to the things you say to yourself and others about your efforts to lose weight.
If you tend to say things like;
It could be an indication that you are putting off really doing something about your weight. These kind of sentence structures when reviewed show how the speaker is putting the responsibility of taking action somewhere else, outside of themselves.
Especially a statement like. “I just wish I had the willpower.” The words ‘just wish’ mean exactly that to your subconscious. It’s almost like giving your subconscious the instruction to do nothing but wish.
Use Your Imagination to Succeed
Until you have a clearer felt notion of what it would mean to lose weight in terms of an eating and exercise plan with a clear feeling of being slimmer in the near future than you’ll stay ‘just wishing’.
When I help clients succeed at losing weight we talk about how it would feel, how would they know they’ve lost weight. Think about that question. To answer you have to think about what you’d be doing, how people would be responding to you. What you would have done to get there. This initial simple step is crucial to building a motivating plan that propels you to succeed.
Then we work together to overcome old mental barriers and to create new mental pathways to success. This means a combination of hypnosis and neuro linguistic programme (nlp) techniques that will help the client visualise their ideal self whilst maintaining motivation.
Stop Sabotaging Yourself
So from today keep a notepad with you and jot down any random thoughts or sayings that you notice relating to you and your weight. Just capture them in writing and at the end of the day or after a few days take a look and notice whether your statements are just wishes and a list of disappointments.
If they are then you know you need to work at the subconscious level of your mind to really make a wish to be slimmer into a reality.
