Focus your mind, relax and get more done
It is one of the basic principles of life management that it is better to do a few things well than a lot of things badly.
All very well you might say, and if you’re feeling in the thick of it and torn every which way by external demands on your time and nagging thoughts internally then gaining a sense of focus is nigh on impossible.
However, if you really want to succeed in business or life then it really is important to be able to focus so that you can do well and feel fulfilled.
The problem many people suffer from nowadays is that they think of too many things and tasks to do and mindlessly add them to their list. Then they feel at a disadvantage or lacking somehow if not everything on the ‘to do list’ is ticked as done.
This mode of thinking results in being busy not getting anything done properly and feeling bad about ourselves into the bargain.
If you want to stop the cycle of too much to do and feeling bad about yourself it is essential that you train your mind to focus.
One simple way to get this going is to turn your focus to your breathing every now and then during the day. Try it now. Just notice your breathing. You can put your hand gently on your tummy and watch the gentle movement of your hand. As you notice this you will notice that your breathing slows done and in turn you will slow down. Your thoughts can still come and go and you just return your focus to your breathing. In and out, that’s all.
Then as you get used to the rise and fall of your stomach just notice the pause at the height of your breath in and just before you breath in again.
You only need to spend a few moments in this calm pose to benefit and to train your mind to focus. You will find that your mind will more easily find the solution to a problem or pinpoint what needs to be done after a few moments of this style of focus.
Try it out, you will gain some peace in your busy day and your power to problem solving will develop.
